The Sea Demoness

Daring adventurers from Bourgsable were tasked with solving a mystery that, for many, was little more than a tale to frighten children. The Sea Demon, half-woman, half-fish, had ignited the ancient occult arts and defended a wondrous cave filled with gold. After crossing a strait with impressive waves, they moored their boat on a rocky island, grabbed their weapons and torches, found the entrance and descended into the darkness.

She had used her surroundings to adorn herself with shells, making her look fabulous to outsiders, but those who approached her would notice that they were sharpened. In the distance, the mythical Akyvasha, the Sea Demon, waited patiently for the adventurers, her eyes glowing in the darkness.

The adventurers' eyes grew accustomed to the darkness, and it was then that they caught sight of the creature, her sharp dagger and her clothing made of the leather of Hydrophinae, dangerous, venomous sea snakes. The adventurers grabbed their weapons and shouted provocations, their voices trembling. The Sea Demon only smiled at them as a loud crash was heard. A stone now blocked the entrance, and water began to rise in the cave. Only Akyvasha's company remained before they too perished beneath her blade.

Stéphanie, one of our leather craftswomen since 2022, brought all her expertise to bear on this costume created for festivities. Her creativity enabled her to create this strange and dangerous creature, a sea demon from a marvellous and strange imaginary world.

The garments she wears, from the hand-dyed, beaded shagreen bra to the fishtail skirt and gloves, were custom-made and patterned by Stéphanie. The corset was also sewn for the occasion, selling the illusion of the wicked mermaid, with the fabric forming rainbow reflections, like magical rippling water.

Utilizing the versatility of our workshop's standard pieces, she has adapted the great classics so that they are a continuation with her character's silhouette and aesthetic. Such is the case with the knotted belt, topped with braids, designed in water snake leather and glued to buffalo leather for added strength. The medieval purse at her waist is taken from the pattern of our Medieval Pouch, but created with purple-dyed vegetable leather embossed with scales and topped with water snake leather. An accessory holder and skirt hikes are also created, inspired by standard products, following the same customization. To complete the set, the Calimacil horns were fitted to her head and solidified with the custom scout crown, enhanced with hand-sewn shells. The Sea Demoness use proudly a set of nemesis Ritual Knives.

Stéphanie shows off her boundless imagination and expertise in this set. With small modifications, it's possible to find the same versatility in beloved pieces, while better encrusting them with the aesthetics of one's character, and the Sea Demon is a wonderful example of this here.
