Know-how and interpersonal skills

The visit from the Luma team was much appreciated by both students and staff. The activities focused on hands-on sword training (know-how and interpersonal skills). The youngsters were quickly in action to develop their mobility skills, their ethics and, in the case of the older students, to learn how to organize themselves as a team. The students liked the playfulness, the safety (the swords are well made, painless) and the fact that it was completely different from what they're used to in physical education classes.

— Frédérick Michaud, physical education teacher

A great source of pride

I am the mother of three boys who have been involved in medieval activities for almost 10 years. Through extracurricular classes and camps, they have learned to wield different weapons, developed their agility, discovered historical concepts and, above all, cultivated values such as self-esteem, respect, creativity and team spirit. Role-playing and combat were also part of their adventures. Making their own weapons and armor was a great source of satisfaction.

— Marylène Deschênes, parent of students

Adventures they can only dream of

Over the years, I've witnessed the benefits of fantasy worlds for children. Not only do they learn self-control and how to channel their energy in a positive way, but they also stimulate their imagination through adventures that make them dream. These activities foster a strong sense of belonging, new friendships and teamwork. As a result, games become a powerful tool for personal and social development.

OUR ORIGIN

Following several years of partnership to bring the medieval sports experience into schools, LUMA and Nemesis Workshops decided to take the adventure a step further by developing a sport that combines the fun of medieval combat with a more sporting approach, with swords fully adapted to the school environment.

Softblade was thus born of a shared passion, with the aim of strengthening their collaboration and creating a sport that will keep young people active... and away from screens.

GAME RULES

Softblade offers a variety of game formats to suit different group sizes, goals, and energy levels — from fast-paced duels to strategic team scenarios.

FIGHTING ARENA

Players compete solo or in small teams.

BATTLEFIELDS

Two teams are formed, and players must use strategy to eliminate each member of the opposing team. Defined roles are then assigned (e.g. Healer, Captain).

DUEL

A 1-on-1 confrontation within a well-defined protocol. First to reach 3 hits wins.

SCENARIOS

Inspired by live action role playing battles, objectives are added to the battlefields to diversify play and develop leadership and team-building skills.

CODE OF HONOR

Softblade is built on simple yet essential rules. This code of honor reflects the values that guide our sport: respect, integrity, and discipline. It provides a clear framework to ensure a positive, fair, and safe experience for all participants.

GAME SPIRIT

All Softblade activities are based on a system of honor and honesty.

PROTECT THE HEAD

Every touch to the head must be followed by an immediate time-out and an apology.

TRUST

Pointed blows are forbidden.

FINESSE

It's the touch that counts, not the power.

RESPECT FOR EQUIPMENT

The tip should never touch the ground.

DISCIPLINE

No swordplay outside established games.

TRAINING

Complete training to allow you to get to grips with the Softblade sport smoothly and easily. Whether in person or online, the new Softblade teacher will have everything they need to supervise activities, apply rules, lead games and ensure a safe and motivating environment for youngsters.

The training is offered in association with LUMA, which has been involved in medieval school sports for 12 years. Everything has been structured thanks to field experience in schools and adapted in collaboration with PE teachers. To ensure the integrity and continuity of the sport, training is compulsory for schools joining the project.
