Introduction to Leathercrafting
Spend a day inside the Artisans d'Azure workshops. Learn practical techniques alongside our experienced artisans and bring your custom LARP accessories to life.
Crafting Alongside Us
There is a unique pride in wearing gear you crafted with your own hands. Our leatherworking classes are designed to be accessible, human, and hands-on. You won't be sitting in a lecture hall; you'll be right on our production floor in Montreal, learning directly from the artisans who build our armor year-round.
It's a chance to see how a real workshop operates, understand the materials, and create a personalized piece that fits your character's story perfectly, rather than buying a standard item off the shelf.
The Techniques You Can Learn:
- Pattern tracing and safe leather cutting.
- Proper hardware installation (rivets, eyelets, snaps, and buckles).
- Edge finishing and burnishing for a clean, durable look.
- Project-Specific Skills: Custom dyeing, water molding, and leather engraving (tooling).
Note: Because every project is unique, specialized techniques like dyeing, molding, or engraving are not covered in every class. If you want to master all of them, you are always welcome back to tackle different projects with us!

FAQ about Leather Crathing Trainings
Do I need prior experience in leatherworking?
Not at all! Our classes are specifically designed for complete beginners. Our team will guide you step-by-step through tracing, cutting, dyeing, and assembling.
Can I bring my own custom design to make during the class?
To make sure everyone finishes their project on time, we work from pre-established base patterns (e.g., a specific bracer or pouch template). However, you have total creative freedom over the colors, stamping patterns, and hardware choices to make the piece unique to your character!
Can I offer a class as a gift?
Absolutely. You can purchase our standard Artisans d'Azure Gift Card online. The recipient can then use that gift card code at checkout to book any available class date that suits their schedule.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
We require a minimum of 72 hours' notice for cancellations to receive a full refund or to reschedule. Since group sizes are very small, last-minute cancellations prevent others from joining.
Is parking available at the workshop?
No, there is no free parking near the workshop (or the Artisans d'Azure store). Metered parking is available on the street, and we are just a short walk from the Papineau metro station.
If you come by bike, you can bring it inside while you’re taking the class.
