Rangers

Rangers are often depicted as lone wolves, stoic silent types, or antisocial wild characters more at ease with animals than people. They may also be heavily influenced by the idea of the hunt, seeing things through a predator-prey lense, or adopting a very pragmatic mindset revolving around survival.

BARBARIAN

The concept of the barbarian is as old as civilization itself, finding its origins as far away in history as the founding myths of the great city of Uruk, thousands of years before any Roman or even ancient Chinese used the epithet to mock the people of their periphery.

Legend

When a pack of wolves hunts down a deer herd, they will wisely pick a sick or weak animal and feed. They hunt, they kill, they eat. There is no carnage, no useless bloodshed. But shepherds know very well that this is not how wolves react faced with a defenseless herd of sheep. The helpless animals drive the predators mad and violent. They will slaughter far more than they need to eat and leave the carcasses in the sun to rot.

This savagery leaves the shepherd shocked and confused, but I understand these beasts, and I know why they feel so compelled to cull. It’s their visceral gut reaction to the violation of the natural order. It is ancient primal wisdom acting through them. I for one share their instinct. As they do with the sheep herds, I do the same with these vile human paddocks called cities.

I don’t recognize the humanity of these so-called civilized folks, the ones who built walls to hide themselves from the woods and the beasts and cut themselves from the wilderness that birthed us all. When they lock their doors and gloat with their sense of superiority, I shall be the one who knocks and reminds them that the might of nature cannot be tamed.

Description

This full armor set is made of handcrafted leather, dyed brown, sanded, varnished, and with a full aging patina that gives it a savage and worn-out finish. Highly modular, the pauldrons, headpiece, breastplate and belt are all available in multiple variations, providing an unmatched level of customization for one of our standard products. Covered in cuts and battle damage, this medieval armor looks like the rugged gear of some murderous savage, barbarian raider, or tribal warrior, making it a great choice for dark fantasy characters in LARP. Molded skulls can even be added to the pauldrons and belt to reinforce this violent theme.

Inspired by some designs seen in the Dark Souls franchise, the helmet uses a subtle mesh inside the visor to hide the wearer's features and give a darker, more ominous presence to the wearer. This feature has little effect on visibility, but it makes a big impact in terms of the fear factor, giving a distinctive inhuman appearance. Alternatively, the helmet can be swapped with a sinister leather hood which is fixed directly on the armor with laces so it cannot slip or spin, while also displaying leather counterweights on the front to keep the hood in place. The back of the hood is doubled to keep the volume that makes this piece so impressive, but without letting the wearer's head sink too deep inside, something that could be fairly detrimental in combat otherwise. Furthermore, a leather mask can be worn over the mouth to complete this costume.

The breastplate covers the full body, or only the torso if the short version is selected. The long option is articulated with mobile leather plates that make moving easy and give the armor a comfortable fit. The whole piece is adjusted with thick leather straps on the back. The body armor also supports the pauldrons, which are sold separately and with many options, allowing for an asymmetrical pair or to simply go with a single piece. Removable leather sleeves can also be added under the pauldrons to give a more seamless appearance to the armor. These pieces create the illusion of some sort of gambeson worn under the armor and avoid the often stark contrast between the bulky leather armor and the wearer's bared of lightly clothed arms, a perfect compromise for LARP.

The combat belt is a wide and imposing piece with a double set of belts as well as metal rings that can be used to hold armored tassets or various grim talismans and accessories. Long pieces of supple leather hang from the belt, a battle skirt of sort that lengthens the figure and add some flare to the character when in motion. The belts can also support all the classic gear needed in LARP such as a scabbard or the matching pouch available with this set.

The full armor also includes a pair of greaves and bracers. Combined with a pair of articulated partial gauntlets, it gives some serious limb protection for this set. All these pieces are attached with adjustable straps and display the same used finish as the rest of the armor, perfectly fitting for an orc, ogre, or feral fighter. Because of the aging patina and the voluntary use of imperfect hides to craft these sets, each armor is guaranteed to have subtle unique features, natural skin texture, and scars enhancing the final product with details that cannot easily be imitated by the artisan.
