''There were less than three hundred nonhumans in Rivia at that time, good folks, honest folks. Dwarf merchants, halfling townsfolk, a few elves and their offspring living their lives the best they could. But on the evening of September 25, the amber of hate that had been glowing for months sparked a wildfire in the human population of our small town. A mob rose in the marketplace, angry peasants and crazed workers wielding pitchforks, clubs, knives, and torches. They went after the nonhumans, dragging them out of their homes, cornering them in the streets, beating and killing them like they were vermin.
Nothing stood between their hate and the innocent victims of the rampage, nothing but Geralt of Rivia. The White Wolf was seen in the market, slowly unsheathing his long steel sword as he shielded a group of scared dwarves and some friends of his. As he dropped the long scabbard on the ground and shifted to his fighting stance, I hoped for one moment the mob would hear his warnings. They knew what he could do with that blade, they saw him cleave through bandits and Nilfgardian soldiers with ungodly speed. It was not a weapon, it was a tool, and death was his trade. Sadly, the angry mob didn't have that wisdom. They charged, and gave the Witcher the fight of his life, outnumbering him by the dozens. The pavement turned red from their spilled blood while the White Wolf fought with inhuman efficiency, but as he turned to protect others from an assailant, he was stabbed in the chest by a pitchfork, wielded by a nameless drunk. What a shame...''
