Description

The rectangular scutum shield was the most iconic piece of equipment of the Roman legionary. This large semi-cylindrical shield was used by Rome's heavy infantry to create unbreakable formations, protecting the soldier from the chin to the knees, and allowing the legionary to hide behind impressive shield walls when using the famous testudo formation. The scutum shield was a defensive bulwark, but this fantasy take on the classic brings its defence to a whole new level.
