Description

While katanas were known to be more efficient and deadly, some situations were unsuitable for these weapons. This is why swords such as the tanto and the wakizashi were created. More practical, they could be hidden and be used in tight spaces. They also didn’t restrict the movements of the one using it, which was perfect for a hasty retreat. Seldom used as a main weapon, the tanto was often used as a secondary weapon in a two-weapon fighting style, or when a katana would be impractical.
