Legend
Side by side, the dozen or so young men were impatiently waiting, a mix of nervosity and expectations visible on their faces. Having trained many months together already, the time for them to join the 7th Cohort was approaching, where they would start their service and acquire essential experience. The next to be called with Lucius Cornelius, a brave recruit with expectations bigger than reality. Having heard for a long time about the legends and the glory of the Empire in which he had spent his whole life, he was finally ready to join the ranks of the Legion, resolute that he wanted to actively contribute to the prosperity and safety of his kin. He did not know exactly what to expect, only that his group was summoned today for something urgent. Wiping a bead of sweat on his forehead, he exchanged a quick look with his companion on his left, then moved forward.
Getting closer to the pavilion, he recognizes the silhouette hidden in the shade as the grizzled centurion who had trained, a greying man who was severe yet just. After a brief exchange, the experienced soldier signals Lucius that everything was in order and that today, the moment he had expected for so long had finally come. On the table was what would come to be his most prized possession, what would save his life quite a few times in the future. A full set of armor, entirely made and adjusted for him, was laid out on the table. He recognized the same distinctive elements he had already seen on the armors of the other soldiers: the large ornate pauldrons, the finely worked cuirass, the decorated bracers and greaves, the long straps of the armor skirt. This armor was the symbol of authority and unity of the Legion, the Empire as a whole even, a sign of force and an impenetrable shell against the enemy. As Lucius started to equip the various pieces of armor in a moment filled with pride, he considered himself finally ready to do his part, to fully join the Legion and officially become a legionnaire, though this was only the start of his own legend.
Description
This set of roman armor made of leather combines fantasy elements with touches of Greco-Roman inspiration, an era filled with many myths and grand legends still popular today. Designed for LARPs, the armor is fabricated with molded vegetable leather and dyed by hand, compared to the historical element which could be made of iron or bronze. This choice makes the armor lighter, more flexible and adapted for LARPing combat, allowing for better ease of movement. The articulated cuirass offers excellent mobility, while the pauldrons are made of large leather straps that cover the front and the back, reminiscent of the legendary Roman armor Lorica Segmentata. Continuing this theme is a battle skirt made of long decorated leather straps, adjustable on sides, and a Greek-inspired helmet drawing from the Corinthian helmet design with side protection, a decorative ridge and a plume of genuine horsehair. Finally, the armored bracers with hand protection and greaves protecting the knees complete the set, making it a full armor worthy of the hoplite, the renowned gladiator, the grand warrior of legend or even the mythological hero in LARP events.
