The average thickness is around 2mm. Leather skins are sold complete or in half-skin. Minimum of 5 square feet. The shape of the skins is variable.
This buffalo leather is used to make several types of accessories such as pouches and quivers. The flexibility of the leather can also be practical for straps or various other projects. You can cut this leather quite easily with an Exacto or leather scissors.
I bought 5 units of leather, which from the description I expected to be be close to 5ft by 1ft lenght of leather. I thought it might be oval or rectangular with non-stratight edges or possibly cut from the leg area so it would be more connical in shape.
What I recived was a roughtly 2ft by 3ft irrgular shaped piece of high qualty leather. This posed an issue for me as I was planning on making belts out of the leather for a costume, one of which was suppose to be a 42 inch by 4 inch solid piece of leather.
Had I known that the leather would be very irrgular in shape, I would have bought more units or reached out to ask about the shape of the leather, but the description made it sound like it was being sold in retangular shapes.
The leather itself is very high quality and very much worth the price, I just wish there was a better description of the shape/size of the leather that you are buying.
