The kettle hat is the typical helmet of the medieval infantryman. The helmets form protects from hits from above and does not interfere with breathing or hearing.
Frequently referred to as "the helmet of the commoner," the kettle helmet is particularly eligible to reenact footmen and ordinary soldiers. Its wide brim shows high functionality for it protects from rain, as well as the sun.
